Day 1: Arrival in Hanoi & Military History Museum (D)
Our guide meets the group at Noi Bai Airport and transfers everyone to the hotel.
The tour opens at the Vietnam Military History Museum, home to more than 150,000 artefacts and documents including four National Treasures. Its displays trace the country’s long struggle for independence and reunification — the through-line for everything students will see over the next week.
If time allows, a walk through the Old Quarter and around Hoan Kiem Lake. Welcome dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 2: Halong Bay Day Trip (B, L, D)
A full day at Halong Bay. The group boards a junk boat for a cruise through the bay’s emerald water and limestone karsts, with a seafood lunch on board, a visit to one of the bay’s caves, and sunset over the water before the return to Hanoi.
A deliberate break in the middle of a demanding week — students need one before Hue.

Day 3: Hanoi Sightseeing & Flight to Hue (B, L, D)
The morning covers the capital’s landmark sites, including the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.
The group then visits Hoa Lo Prison, built by the French in the late nineteenth century to hold Vietnamese revolutionaries and later used to detain American prisoners of war. Few sites in Vietnam illustrate the layering of two colonial conflicts as directly.
After lunch, transfer to the airport for the flight to Hue.

Day 4: Quang Tri, the DMZ & the Landmine Centre (B, L, D)
An early start north to Quang Tri Citadel, the site of the 1972 battle that saw eighty-one days and nights of continuous bombardment. It stands today as a memorial to that scale of loss.
The group continues into the Demilitarised Zone, visiting Khe Sanh combat base and crossing the Hien Luong Bridge over the Ben Hai River — for two decades the line dividing North from South.
The day closes at the Landmine Centre run by Project RENEW, where students see the clearance work still going on across the province. It is the moment the war stops being history and becomes a present-day problem.

Day 5: Imperial Hue & Flight to Ho Chi Minh City (B, L, D)
The morning is spent at the Hue Imperial Citadel, seat of the Nguyen Dynasty from 1802 to 1945, where the damage of successive wars sits alongside ongoing restoration.
The group then visits Thien Mu Pagoda, which houses the car driven to Saigon in 1963 by the monk Thich Quang Duc — an object that changed how the world saw Vietnam.
After lunch, Tu Duc Mausoleum, before the afternoon flight south to Ho Chi Minh City.

Day 6: Cu Chi Tunnels & Wartime Saigon (B, L, D)
The morning is spent at the Cu Chi tunnel network — some 250 km of passages that sheltered over 16,000 fighters and served as living quarters, hospitals and supply routes. Students willing to try can descend into a section themselves.
Back in the city, the group stops at Do Phu Coffee Shop, an ordinary-looking house that operated as a hiding place and message drop for Saigon’s underground network.
The afternoon is given to the War Remnants Museum, and if time allows, a walk past the Old Saigon Post Office, Notre Dame Cathedral and the Opera House.

Day 7: Mekong Delta — History & Culture Immersion (B, L, D)
The group travels to My Tho and stops at the former Dong Tam base camp before boarding, then meets a veteran who grew up in the area and lived through the war here. It is the closest students come to a first-hand account.
The rest of the day belongs to the delta: cruising around Thoi Son Islet, a floating fish farm, a honeybee farm, a sampan ride along a narrow canal, and a local fruit garden reached by bicycle. Lunch is at a family home, cooked together.
Return to Ho Chi Minh City in the evening.

Day 8: Departure (B)
Free time until the transfer to Tan Son Nhat Airport for the departure flight. End of services.
